Infinite Orbits: Animations at the Fulton Center, MTA Arts, NYC

MTA Art & Design Press Release

Swirling lines and pixels dance energetically across the 52 screens at Fulton Center in @carterhodgkin’s digital artwork “Infinite Orbits,” on view now. The spiral shapes draw upon Fulton Center’s architecture and the circulating paths of travelers in the subway system. Derived from computer coding, the animations depict abstract visualizations of energy in mesmerizing, colorful paths.

Hodgkin’s practice fuses art, science, and technology to explore a new language of abstraction. Approaching the modification of code as a drawing tool, she generates atomic particle collisions to create animated forms which visualize energy.

“Infinite Orbits” plays for 2 minutes at the top of each hour throughout Fulton Center, presented with technical support from Westfield Properties and ANC Sports.
